WELCOME!
We’re so glad you’re here!
Here’s how Sunday classes for kids and youth are set up at Uptown Community Church:
Three Sundays In a Row:
Children’s classes during the sermon for PreK-Middle School. Kids are dismissed with mentors to classrooms just before the sermon and brought back to the sanctuary at the end of sermon.
Grade groups:
Babies - 3 years
PreK-K
1st-2nd Grade
3rd-5th Grade
Middle School
Every 4th Sunday is a Covenant Family Service:
There is a Children’s Sermon during service
Then, PreK-1st grade are dismissed for class
2nd grade & up invited to stay in full service. Creative note-taking sheets are provided.
We take communion (also called Lord’s Supper) after the sermon on Covenant Family Sundays.
Babies & Toddlers:
Babies and toddlers are always welcome to stay in service; we are a-ok with wiggles! We do have a “wiggle room” if your baby stays in service but then needs to move a little bit more. Babies and toddlers are also invited to join their class during the sermon.
High School:
High Schoolers are invited to stay in the full service and listen to the sermon. After church, high schoolers meet together over dessert and coffee to talk about the sermon- and life! High schoolers are also invited to occasionally volunteer with the younger classes.
How We Keep Kids Safe:
Parents and caregivers are always welcome to attend class with their child(ren). Parents and caregivers are also welcome to keep child(ren) in service with them.
All mentors are background checked prior to mentoring and receive orientation and training throughout the year, including refreshing safety protocols. Emergency exit routes are posted in each classroom.
There are first aid kits in each classroom. We do not eat or provide snacks during Sunday classes. Snacks are provided during the High School discussions- please let the Children’s Ministry Coordinator know about any allergy concerns or dietary needs.
For more information, please contact our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Rachael Harrington.
