Community Lunch With Parents Association

This past Saturday we held a Community Lunch with the Parents Association of the High School for Excellence and Innovation.  A number of factors prevented us from doing our yearly food distribution and clothing swap this year.  However, the years of doing this event at this school has opened up a good relationship with the Parent Coordinator, Maria Espaillat. On Saturday we served lunch, gave out 50 bags of fruits and vegetables and did some listening and conversation with the parents about resources they needed to support their families. Our participation with Viva Uptown in the Uptown Youth Collective gives us access to some helpful resources. One parent shared that her family was facing eviction from their apartment.  We will be connecting her to the appropriate legal services.  We also have an open invitation to walk alongside the Parent Association.  Several of us will be attending their December meeting. Please pray for fruitful connections to support these families and for Gospel influence as we journey with them.

2020 Food Distribution

The Lord gave us a beautiful day for our annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution. Uptown Community Church and New Beginnings Baptist Church partnered to bless our community and the families of the High School of Excellence and Innovation. We were able to provide tablets for two new students who just arrived from the Dominican Republic.

2017 "Uptown Go Green"
Thanksgiving Food Distribution & Clothing Swap

Uptown Community Church and 6 other local churches worked in partnership with residents, businesses, schools, and other community organizations through healthy communities initiative "Uptown Go Green".  It was our 6th year participating in the renewal of the food and health landscape in Washington Heights/Inwood.  We provided free tote bags of fresh groceries to needy residents of Washington Heights/Inwood as well as clothes and access to health and immigration legal services.  Many people stopped by our information table and received information, prayer and words of encouragement in the love of Jesus.
